Celebrating 10 years of private piano teaching

As I celebrate my personal anniversary of 10 years of private piano teaching today, I am taken by surprise by how fast the time has flown since I took on my very first formal piano student (who still happens to be my piano student today, by the way!).

That first day of teaching, I remember a 4 year old girl looking all the way up at me from where she was standing beside her mother, walking over to me, and hugging me just before her first lesson started. With that, I never expected piano teaching to become a journey of the heart as much as a journey at the keys with my students.

Thousands of piano notes later by way of sheet music worked on with students, these days, I continue to be excited to work with students who very much wish to learn how to play the piano.

While the teaching lessons learned over time are too many to sum up here, suffice it to say that this is a celebration of my students and all of their fine music-making, as much as a teacher’s celebration.

Cheers!
