Today, I am very excited to share that, thanks to a new collaboration with a local First Congregational Church, my students who are ready will be invited to play preludes for Sunday services at this welcoming church.
This spring, one of my longest-term students, who loves classical music, will be playing a Bach piece she has been working on for months at a church service.
It's very exciting to have the chance to send my students into the community through musical service-learning projects like this, which will give them a rich opportunity to share the music they love with new audiences.
While the nature of the music-making is not a solo recital, the standards of performance are no less high, and the music must still flow and be beautiful for all listeners. To this end, I have been coaching my student in sight-reading and relaxation techniques to address stage fright, which can still affect students when making music for others in any setting.
My husband and I are cheering on my student. We are confident her music will uplift everyone.
